SUNY Agriculture Listening Session
Friday, February 6, 2026, 10-11 a.m.
Genesee Community College
Student Success Center, Room G200 (second floor)
One College Road, Batavia, NY
Background: In late 2025, SUNY launched the Agritech Center — not a physical place on one
campus, but the collective mobilization of SUNY’s agricultural might, positioning New York
State’s rural communities to lead in the modern economy by bringing together key partners.
This effort is focused on meeting the needs of the ag industry in areas like education, workforce
development, career awareness, recruitment, research, entrepreneurship and adoption of the
next generation of technology.
As part of this work, SUNY is hosting a small listening session for businesses and other ag industry partners.
This event will consist of brief introductions and an informal conversation to help assess:
- Agriculture Workforce & Modernization
- Workforce demand and shortage areas
- Modernization and technology shifts
- Skills employers need
- Career pathways and job outlook
- Higher Education’s Role in Preparing the Modern Agriculture Workforce
- Program alignment, credentials and job pathways
- Career awareness
- Work-based learning
- Barriers to access and supports needed
